The Tale of the Brownie

Due to my familial ties to Scotland, I am drawn to the rich tapestry of Celtic folklore. Inspired by my personal connection, I have delved into the realm of the Sith, or fairies. The tale of the Brownie, a selfless hobgoblin, is the focus of my film. Taking elements from folktales, I have reimagined the story of this magical creature, focusing on the goodness in their hearts.

By needle-felting British wool and crafting sets from everyday materials, I bring these age-old tales to life through stop-motion film. These animations serve as a bridge between my inherited traditions and the present, inviting viewers to rediscover the enchantment of Scottish folklore and the messages they tell.

The work encourages viewers to engage with their inner child and embrace a sense of wonder that transcends geographical boundaries and age to speak to the enduring power of storytelling.
